European Imperialism In Africa Research Paper

What was the main cause of the European Imperialism in Africa? The European imperialism lasted over 300 years from 1500’s to the 1800’s. It started to change in the 1800’s because as European explorers took over and pushed their way to the interior and central Africa. By the 1880’s Africa was taken by the European settlers. Some reasons the Europeans wanted Africa because they have a lot of good natural resources. All the Europeans did was take all of their resources and have them do all the labour behind it and ship it to there home town. The examples to prove the driving force of the European imperialism in Africa is in the White Man’s Burden, imports and exports of Great Britain and South Saharan Africa, and the technology and imperialism comparison. The first example of the European Imperialism is the White Man’s Burden document. This document shows that the whites thought they had something above the Africans that's why they conquered them and made them work for them and or they would sell them. The technology was very different between Europe and Africa. Europe was much more developed than Africa was. That's another reason they thought they were superior than the Africans. Some of the examples are from Document C and the include the steam engine, electric telegraph, bessemer process, and the maxim gun. There are many more but those in my opinion were the biggest. They used all of these against the Africans and the africans had nothing to fight back because they were not near as developed as the Europeans.
