Eulogy Speech: What Makes A Dead Relative?

Improved Essays
Writing a eulogy speech, is a perfect chance to express oneself. A short time to show one's artistic and poetic prowess. Maybe even some time to get out some much needed anger or regret. Writing such a speech could even be fun, right? Wrong! Writing an assigned eulogy speech is like being told you have a thousand dollars to spend at your favorite store but all the items have been replaced with rotting cacti. You may say I'm being dramatic but have you ever been forced to write about a dead relative? It was about the middle of the second semester of eighth grade and I was ready to get out of there for good. It was just another boring day identical to the last two-hundred or so, for a time at least. I was just sitting at a table with my friends Kristine, Alfredo, and gaby working, presumably, on some God-awful group project. I thought that that day would be just another run of the mill school day, at least until my english teacher, Mrs. Smith, got up in front of …show more content…
Even as the deadline to get this project done drew ever closer, I still couldn’t even decide on a person to write about much less knowing what I was going to write about said undecided person. Maybe if I had actually enjoyed this project or the class that had resulted in this assignment, then this knowledge of an ever closing in deadline would have given me new found motivation and writing prowess but this was not the case. Truth be told this was completely illogical as I didn’t even dislike my teacher, I just had a sense of disdain towards the school as a whole; I was acting as though I could just ignore the assignment and make it go

This assignment seemed just like any other. There was a deadline and guidelines and goals that were going to dictate the structure of it. I, however, didn’t know that I was wrong, and it was going to be far from any other. I have a habit, a detrimental one, that was slowly being fed and reassured as “ok” the more and more I went through my schooling. That habit has a name, procrastination, yet I never saw it as a problem because with every assignment and paper I wrote the night before and was able to get a decent grade, there was this unconscious signal that reassure me that if done once, it could be done again.…

No matter the circumstances or age, death is never easy and I feel a need and passion to do whatever I can to honor the deceased while also providing support and guidance to each and every family I serve. The ability to be responsible for quality and respectful services which allow the family to have no concerns or worries during a very difficult time is crucial, and I want nothing more than to be able to provide those services day in and day out. Having the honor to sit with families during some the most difficult days they will ever have to face while also providing comfort to each and every family so they do not feel alone is something I will strive for. I want families to be able to open up to me, let out their fear and anger so I can help them, guide them, comfort them and support them every step of the…

Kunkel and Dennis have created a framework for eulogies with seven elements that are commonly found in most eulogies. There are is no guarantee that all seven or any of the seven are in anyone eulogy and there is no order that these elements are supposed to be in. One of the seven elements often found in eulogies is establishing credibility, or simply stating how the eulogizer knows the deceased or knows of the deceased. Often times there is praise given to person who has died for all the great things he or she accomplished in his or her life. When giving the praise, the person speaking may often be speaking directly to deceased.…

I walked into the classroom of my last class of the day expecting to just take notes and listen to a lecture. Unfortunately for me, the teacher announced that we were going to write a timed essay based on a chapter of a book we were reading. This task did not seem challenging at first, and the thirty minutes we were given to write our essays seemed like plenty of time. Nonetheless, I still managed to turn what was supposed to…

It’s strange. It’s strange what the human mind seems to choose to remember. Which particular conversations are embedded eternally in the wire work, or the moments that are determined to be emotionally significant enough to be imprinted in the drifting neurons, and even the random cursory details of fleeting day to day life that are just as elusive as the electrical impulses which represent them. When I think back on my elementary experience I can remember the generic themes well enough, the recesses, cafeteria cliques, the thrill of going on a field trip, etc.…

It was the first day of seventh grade. I was young for my class, a seven-year home school veteran, and going into a small, private school where I would be in a class of only seven people who had already known each other for years. This was a recipe for disaster and I could feel the terror and nervousness taking over me as I walked into the classroom, five minutes late. Five minutes may not seem like much, but in five minutes I could have found a better desk to sit at or at least have had time to introduce myself to a few of my new classmates. Instead, I walked in -not even aware that I was late- to awkwardly stand there, in front of everyone, until the teacher helped me find a desk to sit at.…

Anxiety Physical Education is a class that, every year, I always dread. Not only do I absolutely suck at sports anything to do with teamwork, but am completely and utterly useless when it comes to any physical activity- and my anxiety really does not help with the fitness testing aspect of it. However, not long ago, I learned that I can talk to someone about it, explain my problems, and they will try to help me figure something out; doing this not only saves other people time, but it greatly decreases the amount of anxiety that I will feel. One day in grade eight, everything had started out great- I got up on the right side of the bed, I had enough time to eat breakfast for once, and it was a Friday.…

Does waiting until the last minute to embark on a writing project or assignment really ensure the highest quality of content in the finished product? When creating a written document that classmates or teachers are going to assess, most people are concerned with putting forth their best effort. Most people are adversely affected by the constant worry, lack of organization, and mental exhaustion that are the result of waiting to complete a written assignment. There are, however, a small percentage of people who thrive on the “adrenaline rush” that is caused by leaving a project until the last minute. What makes some people procrastinate on assignments or projects when given a specific deadline to meet?…
