For those of you who may not know, I am the deceased’s brother. I would like to thank all of you for attending today to remember and lay to rest my dear brother. Niccolò Machiavelli was born in Florence, Italy, on May 3rd, 1469. He unfortunately died on June 21, 1527, in Florence, Italy. Niccolò was a diplomat for 14 years in this country and only ever wanted what was best for his fellow people. His most notable work is The Prince, which, as if you all don’t already know, is about monarchal rule and survival. Due to this, the work is regarded as the handbook for politicians. On top of having a really busy schedule, Niccolò was a great father to his four children. One of his kids had consumption, and he did all he could to help his child live a good life. He provided for his family by writing, solving cases of bankruptcy, and working well with and in the government. Niccolò was one of the smartest men I knew, and was a great listener. Niccolò was the man to go to for advice in any situation. I suppose after all of the experiences he went through, a man would be wiser. When the Medici defeated our armed forces and ruined our government, Niccolò Machiavelli was wrongly held captive. While a man going through such awful experiences would usually not live to tell stories about it, he preserved like a trooper. In fact, during this time he did not give up writing and wanted nothing more than his political power back. This is one of the examples of how he was a great role model for youngsters. He was braver than his peers, refusing to “abandon” his kids. Niccolò really was a family guy. My brother was also a leader. As all good leaders, he spent time studying old civilizations, and looking at what made them successful in attempt to better our society

Informing the readers that they should do anything it takes to get into and stay in power, the ends justify the means ideal. Machiavelli states that “Every one sees what you appear to be, few really know what you are, and those few dare not oppose themselves to the opinion of the many, who have the majesty of the state to defend them; and in the actions of all men, and especially of princes, which it is not prudent to challenge, one judges by the result.” essentially saying even if the means are unjust the people only see and judge you by the results.
