George Cole, who died on 5th August, 2015, was best known as the Cockney wheeler-dealer Arthur Daley in Minder, a role he played for 15years from 1979 to 1994. The veteran actor aged 90 passed away at a hospital with his wife and son by his bedside, following a short illness.
The coffin entered Reading Crematorium to the famous theme tune of the popular series. Reading an emotional eulogy during the ceremonial event was Minder’s co-star, Dennis Waterman. Delivering the eulogy at the 30-minutes service, Waterman said, “People are always asking me for anecdotes. Working with George was an anecdote. It was non-stop.
"It's a wonderful day I suppose, but a horrible one. Personally I would rather be doing Hamlet with no rehearsals than this."
