Eulogy For The Holocaust

This is my story, this is how I died. My name is Abba Hitson and I am a Jew. I am 12 years old. I did live in Heidelberg Germany. Now I don’t live anywhere. It was January 30, 1933. World War II had not started yet. I was a normal boy who worked with my Dad in his boot making shop. Now I have nothing. My family, my friends, my home, all gone and so am I. All because of a man named Adolf Hitler.
Hitler had started to take power in Central Europe and there was talk about him taking Jews -- my people-- into camps that he made for us to work in. I have never heard of anything like that before. Taking up people and moving them away sounded unreal. But that is what happened to one of my friends. My parents were scared that might happen to us too………….It

They threw us in covered trucks and took us to the train station. They had dogs and guns. I was worried about what happened. They put us into train cars, they packed us into the cars like hogs. It was hot and disgusting. How can they do something like this to human beings??
After 5 to 6 hours in that train car we stopped. I heard people shouting in German, dogs barking, and the occasional gun shot off in the distance. The train car door opened and I saw a flashlight shining in on us. An officer shouted at us in Polish and motioned for us to get out of the car. I could not really tell where we were nor could I tell what was in front of us. Just a big fence and tall towers.
The Guards were shoving us into the fence. I was shoved to the left. The Guards I could understand were saying things like “Please move this way.” “To the showers please.” At this time I could not find my parents. I could not see them anywhere at all. I was calling out to them. I even started to go back until a Guard HIT me with his gun and told me to get back in line. Then I saw them.. On the other side of the fence. They were calling my name “Abba! Abba! Come Here!!” I could not. I was calling out their names “Mother!! Father!!” But it was in vain. They were taken away. The Guard hit me in the back to get me moving. We were moving to a building with clothes

The building they were putting us into had men on top dressed in white. I walked into the building. It was lit up with light bulbs hanging from the ceiling and shower heads. I was ready to take a shower. I was hot and sweaty in this room full of other people.
It came…..But it was not water. It was gass
The pain, it was choking me. I was dieing. I heard other people dieing too. So this is what death was like. It hurt. After 10 minutes I died. Everyone else died too. I do not know if my parents survived or not, but I knew I was dead. The Germans burned my body. They burned all of the bodies.
Others like me died. Kids that were like me, my age. They had dreams. To do something great in their life, but those dreams were snuffed out by one man.
That man wanted to rule the world. He had a dream, like me and others. I failed in achieving my dream. He failed in achieving his dream

One such event is the Armenian Genocide. From 1915 to 1918 the Ottoman government worked to annihilate the Armenian people, the same way Hitler and the Nazis wanted to obliterate the Jews. During these years, women, and children were forced to march across the Syrian desert. The victims were brutalized and left to starve, and to avoid this many resorted to eating things such as grass, herbs, locusts, and in very desperate cases, they would eat dead animals and human bodies. This kind of treatment was not new when the Holocaust happened, but it had never happened to this…

The Holocaust was a time of pure evil and grief. From when Hitler became Chancellor of Germany in 1933, lasting to the day the war ended in 1945, the Jewish population was taken from their homes, put to work, and faced with shocking living conditions. One of Hitler’s goals was to racially cleanse the society of Germany and areas in Poland to become a complete Aryan race. In 1933 the first concentration camp was established. My heart was beating fast because having never been in a situation like that before. I sat quietly waiting to see where this would go. Having no money, no valuables, really no real reason to have even gone inside the house in the first place, but I remember taking a deep breath saying “what’s done is done.” I was told I was going to jail. After arriving I was booked and then had to wait for the county van to come transport me to the Juvenile facility.…
