Eulogy For Father

Improved Essays
Today had been long. It was one of those days that Cassidy wanted to end with a bear hug from her dad. Her dad was always the person to brighten her day or least from what she remembers. When she was little, he would feed her popsicles for tender bitten tongues and coax straws filled with bubbles of ginger ale past pale nauseous little lips. Because her daddy gave her medicine and laid her on his chest, so that her head could hear the lullaby of his heart. He’d tell her that love is the strongest magic and that magic is stronger than medicine. And that he loves her so much that when he wraps her in his arms, he can pull the sick away.

He was gone for ten weeks before he came back and then we moved to Texas when he was stationed there. We found out about you around two years after getting married. He joined the fire department in Fort Worth a month after we found out. He didn’t want to miss a thing with you,” explained her mother, “And your dad was thrilled, his whole face lit up and told everyone we knew. He was so excited… I still have your sonogram which he wrote on if you’d like it.”
“Why did he become a firefighter?” she said, “I would really love it. It would be like having something that was his.” “He wanted to help people and to be more like your grandpa,” her mother explained, “And even if he wasn’t on duty Cass, he would have found a way to get there and help people. That’s just the type of man he was.”
“His birthday was in April, right?” She asked.

She pulled out a notebook and quickly wrote everything down, a smile on her face as she learned new things about the man who helped bring her into this world.

“Yes. The 12th,” said her mom. “And your anniversary is the July 23rd?” she asked. “Yes,” asked her mother, “Do you need anything

Sermonica — Symbolically, spiritually and in meaning this modest, spartan cabin, placed on high, held a very special spot in Rev. Burkhart's life. Facing south, with only room for a bed and a screened in 'porch' large enough for a small wood table to write on, it was designed to minimize man's intrusion. The view, stunningly beautiful with its long look of the lake, intensified the sense of something much bigger than oneself or indeed mankind. This perch could make anyone vulnerable to lofty thoughts. For some it may be the transcendence of nature, for others, like Dr. Burkhart, it was God's creation and message.…

Conventions of all kinds were quite popular on Baal, and there were convention centers seemingly on every street corner, but the flower show was one of the most popular. The center where the show was held four times a year was more like an enormous greenhouse than a building.…
