Contrast is to compare in order to show unlike news or differences. Whether two people have different morals, opinions, manners, or ways of life the outcome from the differences can vary. People 's relationships could either become weaker or stronger due to differences. There are no two people that are completely alike, there will always be little things that will not make them similar. Differences can either separate or unite people, it all depends on each person’s personality. I was raised to be kind and respectful to everyone I meet. Some people were taught differently. A rich white woman sitting on the subway with a young African-American young man. He was not dressed as well as her so she assumed he would mug her. All she thought about was how scared she was about being robbed. Many women are afraid of being attacked when traveling alone, and as this women was comparing herself to the man all she saw was opposites. They were completely different but she came to her sense and realized that she was thinking of the worst case scenario. Maybe the man was just riding the subway to get somewhere with no thought of wanting to rob her. She discovered that maybe her and the young man were physically different but maybe they had similar personalities. As she thought to herself she became aware of the other situations that could occur which led her to worry less and just remain calm. Even though she had her initial opinion, she was able to change it on her own. In some instances people can have contrasting opinions but when these opinions are discussed someone could change their mind. As I mentioned earlier, this happens very often in a courtroom. As an example, A popular law show that recently ended aired an episode that supports my thinking. In episode 17 of Season 7, two lawyers Diane and Cary were defending their client that put up a billboard accusing a gun store of killing his daughter. The store was fighting for the man to remove the billboard because it was hurting their business. The judge on the case was Judge Charles Abernathy and he was known to have a strong opinion against guns. Diane and Cary figured this would be a valuable asset for their argument. After many hours of courtroom time, Judge Abernathy ruled that the billboard was hurting the gun store 's business. The man had to pay a fine of 10 cents per day everyday the billboard remained up. Now this punishment was not at all life changing but the whole case proved that the judge was able to agree with the owners of the gunstore
