As Melanie Gouby goes undercover to uncover the truth behind these groups intentions, she finds out why M23 wants to join SOCO's and what SOCO's Plans are for the national forest. "SOCO has a reputation for going to controversial ventures in difficult environments", said Melanie this part seems to be true from what SOCO has been doing and how they came once M23 started a conflict. As she goes undercover, she meets SOCO people and talks with them about their opinions. SOCO wants to go into the park, but Emmanuel de Merode (Wildlife director) does not allow them to and tells them exploring for oil in the national park is illegal. Although, SOCO still wanted to go in. As Melanie goes undercover, she wants to release what she finds; all the details and videos of the information she gets from M23 and SOCO. As she talks about what she discovers she is afraid not for herself but for what the viewers will do. "What I am scared about is when this is published is that people read it and then they just go on with their life and nothing is done about this" said Melanie many people do seem to watch and read about what happens, but they don't take charge and handle the situation. Things aren't being done to help the situation. Their lives keep going because it's not their situation and they don’t

The Bonobo Conservation Initiative (BCI) is an American- and Congo-based non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation and preservation of bonobos (Pan paniscus) and their biodiversity. This includes preserving the habitat of the bonobos in the tropical rainforest, physical protection of bonobos, and empowering local communities in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRG) (BCI, 2013). Since the endangered bonobos are endemic to the DRG, the main focus of the BCI is entirely in the DRG (WWF, 2012; IELC, 2016). BCI is unique in the sense that it is the only international organization that focuses on both protecting bonobos and their rainforest habitat, compared to other organizations which may focus only on the primates (BCI, 2013). Ecotourism is closely linked to the preservation and conservation of natural areas. This paper will look at two regions, the Annapurna Conservation Area (ACA) in Nepal and the Mkomazi National Park in Tanzania. The two regions have both implemented conservation initiatives, and have a strong relationship with tourism. This paper will examine community conservation in the ACA (ACA) that draws on Hulme and Murphree 's (1999) idea of “new conservation”, which involves “the merging of conservation and development goals”, conservation to be “based in society” and the notion that the “achievement of conservation goals requires that ‘people and parks’ be good neighbours “ (Hulme and Murphree, 1999, p.280). Additionally, it will examine an older fortress…
