In the play book, Julius caesar, shakspeare had many clever idea on to why he wrote what he did. He was very creative when writing and wrote about a man who was killed by his friend, Brutus. Brutus had his reasonings, that Antony disagreed with. By exaiming the ethos. Pathos, and logos, it is clear that brutus and antony have completely different feelings and thoughts on Julius Caesars death.
When brutus and antony presented their speeches, they used ethos so that they could make the audience believe that what they were saying was the truth. For example, brutus said "If then that friend demand why brutus rose against caesar, this is my answer: not that I love caesar less, but that I loved rome more." Brutus is using ethos in this statement

In brutuses funeral speech, he says, "there is tears for his love, joy for his fortune, honor for his valor, and death for his ambition." By this he is trying to show the audience that julius caesar will be missed, but he deserved to die. Antony said, "my heart is in the coffin there with caesar." This meaning that antony truly misses caesar. That was his bestfriend, the perso he went to when things got rough, and now hes just gone. Antony uses pathos to show the audience that with caesar gone, anthony has basically lost a part of himself.
When using logos, you must use facts. Brutus and antony used facts about caesar and his death to help persuade the audience on the point they were trying to make in their speeches. Brutus tried to find a fact to use to show the people of rome that killing caesar was for the best. Brutus said, "the question of his death is enrolled in the capital." Antony uses a fact that is in fact true, the people of rome even know it. Antony said, "I thrice presented him a kingly crown, which he did thrice refuse." This fact shows the audience that caesar was only doing what he thought was

Antony, in his eulogy, presented himself as filled with grief and loss; however, a form of subliminal persuasion and manipulation is used to sway the Roman people in his favor. The loyal friend of Caesar appeared to be supportive of the conspirators, but his devotion to the true king never wavered. While he praised the conspirators for being “such honorable men”, Antony admitted how he grieved for his friend. He utilized paralipsis in his cajolery, stating that “I speak not to disprove what Brutus spoke, / But here I am to speak what I do know.”…

Antony uses pathos to connect to the emotional side of the audience. Mark Antony was very disconsolate when he learned about the death of Caesar. To show how deeply hurt he was, he stated, “My heart is in the coffin there with Caesar / And I must pause till it come back to me” (3.2.106-107). This clearly illustrates how Antony used pathos to persuade the crowd to join his side.…

Brutus on the other hand, uses only facts which doesn’t give much credibility and there is no bond between him and the crowd. Antony’s precise word choice allows him to even combine pathos and ethos in one phrase. For example, towards the end of the funeral speech, Antony says “But yesterday the word of Caesar might have stood against the world: now he lies there.” Antony appeals to the empathy of the crowd by making them feel sad about his death, especially when he says “now he lies there”. He also shows Caesar was morally good because Caesar was willing to stand against the world just for…

Brutus only aims to be heard, not to be loved, however Antony wants acceptance, and passion for his cause. As Mark Antony receives the crowds acceptance, he also attempts to receive acceptance from his ‘friends’ on Caesar’s behalf. Antony uses pathos once again when trying to convince the people of how much love Caesar had for them. He states on Line 91 of Scene ii “when that the poor hath cried, Caesar hath wept” (III). Antony’s vigorous use of the word ‘wept’ reiterates Caesar’s deep care for his people.…

At the beginning of his last section of his speech he goes with Logos stating examples before what happened and what were the relations between Brutus and Caesar, he goes and states that he backstabbed him with his trust by stating (in line 180), “This was the most unkindest cut of all;/”. It goes to show Antony is providing the crowd frank statements about what happened and he later goes on to detail how Caesar died making the details an ethos connection. The details he uses create an image for the audience to actually visualise the event that took place such examples of detailing he uses, (in line 183 and 184) “Then burst his mighty heart;/And in his mantle muffling up his face,”. After stating the detailing to create a scenario he goes straight to the Pathos as describes what the crowd felt after the event with emotion and passion words such as, “all of us fell down” (line 188), “bloody treason flourished over us.” (line 189), and “O, now you weep, and I perceive you feel.”.…

In William Shakespeare’s play “Julius Caesar” Mark Antony unleashes a powerful speech during Caesar’s funeral, aiming to persuade the people of Rome that Brutus was fallacious to kill Caesar and that they should avenge his death. In Antony’s oration, he argues his case against Brutus by using the rhetorical strategies of Ethos, Pathos and Logos to manipulate his audience to be on his side, rather than Brutus’s side. These three persuasion tools allow his audience to connect with him and he is able to effectively argue his case against than Brutus. Antony’s first priority is to establish ethos in his speech. “The assassination of Caesar is a republican, ritual slaughter in the name of liberty, freedom, and enfranchisement,” (Heller) is mentioned to support Marc Antony’s beliefs on Caesar’s death being unnecessary and how he valued individual freedom and rights. In Antony’s speech, he shares with the crowd using irony and repetition “he is an honorable man” (Shakespeare 3.2.101), referring to Brutus but really he uses logos to convince the audience how Brutus was not honorable but dishonest. Heller states “he expresses himself in the most poetic language--it is rhetorical, full of pathos, and with an inclination to demagoguery,” (Heller) referring to his persuasive way he talked to the crowd and his use of language showing unlike Brutus, actually referred to the crowd not just himself. “My heart is in the coffin there with Caesar and I must pause till it come back to me” (Shakespeare 3.2.108-109). Anthony ends saying that, to show his sadness caused by Caesar’s death, which will draw the same feeling from the crowd making them be on his side, disagreeing with Brutus’ beliefs.…

In Brutus’s speech, closer to the end, he states “I have the same dagger for myself, when it shall please your country to need your death.” (2.2.37-38). Antony has to slowly plant doubt and anxiety that perhaps Brutus was wrong; that although he is a good and honorable man, Brutus could have just murdered another good man, who was only doing good for Rome. Antony uses his words to manipulate the people’s minds much better than Brutus did. The people know that Antony was Caesar’s good friend and the good things he is saying about Caesar are credible. Since Antony is changing the crowd’s perspective about who Caesar was, his continuous good remarks about Brutus keep them from getting angry and…

Caesar was killed just for having ambition. Maybe the determination to make everyone slaves. With all that said Brutus did have the better funeral speech than Antony, he not only spoke about why he killed Caesar he commemorated him as his friend that he had so much love for. Antony did not really entice the reader with his speech to summarize what he said is Brutus is an honorable man (x3 times), Caesar did not have any ambition because he brought captives home to Rome and the money brought great wealth to the city, Antony tried to give Caesar a kingly crown and he refused three times, and the people should love Caesar as they once did. These statements do not entice the reader Antony should have talked more about the bad that Caesar did.…

Mark Antony's Secret Weapon “Friends Romans countrymen Lend me your ears; I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him.” That was Mark Antony’s (a character and one of the main antagonist in William Shakespeare's tragedy Julius Caesar) first statement in his speech that completely turned a weeping mourning crowd into an angry mob. This crowd had just heard that news that their beloved leader Julius Caesar had been put to death. Brutus (a main protagonist in the tragedy) had spoke before Mark Antony and made them sad and mournful about Caesar's death: Mark Antony spoke after Brutus and turned the crowd into an angry mob. Mark Antony turned the crowds emotions upside down using persuasive techniques, and those devices were Ethos, Pathos, and Logos.…

Throughout The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, Mark Antony shows and undying love for Caesar. In this drama, written by William Shakespeare, the story of the assassination of Julius is told, and Antony is, without doubt, Caesar’s most loyal and dedicated admirer. Even after Caesar dies, he is able to carry his legacy on through a powerful and moving speech during his future. As Antony delivers his speech, it is blatantly obvious that he is angered by Caesar’s death and feels great contempt for the conspirators of the vile plot. In fact, it seems that Antony could discourse for hours on end about how magnificent and valiant Caesar was.…
