Native Americans are very different from what some Americans believe they are and like many other ethnicities, they have contributed to America and have changed America for the better of this country. Native Americans are civilized people with different cultures just like any other ethnicity that has different ways of living. America today is a multicultural nation and every ethnicity has contributed to certain customs and traditions occurring in America today. Like Rod Janzen describes, that in the month of December there are many families making tamales now and that is a tradition that Mexican Americans have brought to America. He also describes that many non-Anglo-Saxon traditions are no longer here except for putting a Christmas tree up during Christmas. I never thought about all of the traditions that have melted away and the new ones that are resurfacing because of immigrants in America. Racism and diversity sadly are still happening here in America today, even though it has gotten better there is still some of it here. I am hoping that 50 years from now racism will no longer be in issue because of the multiculturalism that is happening in America. There are so many different ethnicities here today that I believe over the next 50 years it will be different that what it is today. Getting to know different ethnicities and understanding where they come from and their traditions will allow Americans to unite and become a better nation. The minorities will become the majorities and we will need to learn to adjust to that keeping out customs and traditions, but also incorporating new ones of different ethnicities. We will unite as one but have a little bit of everyone in the nation to better understand each other.
