Persuasive Essay Ethnic Studies is the interdisciplinary study of differing race, ethnicity, and Nation, but also sexuality, gender, and other such markings and power, as expressed by the state, by civil society. When the schools in TUSD didn’t have the Ethnic Studies Classes they’re graduation rate for Hispanics was at 50 percent, but after they started having the Ethnic Studies Classes the graduation rates for the Hispanic students went all the way up to 93 percent, which was a very good improve that benefited a lot of people. According from one of the teachers from the film “Precious Knowledge”, one of the parents from a student in a Class of ethnic studies, she claimed that her daughter wouldn’t talk about school at home for the past 11 years, but now that she took the class of ethnic studies and she seemed to not care about school, she won’t stop talking every day about the things that they learn and discuss in their classroom. If the girl would have kept on not being interested in school, she would have not liked school more and more and long term she would have probably decided to drop out, but because of ethnic studies her teacher might have motivated her to start trying harder and harder. This is the case for so many other Latin-American students too. An ethnic study class allows students to get out of their comfort zone and the ethnic studies class also allows them to relate with each other. An ethnic study allows students to get comfortable with each other because it also allows them to relate with each other to the topics that they discuss in class.
