I might not agree with a lifestyle, and idea or act but there is no reason ever to hurt, belittle, hate or kill anyone just because we have some differences because after all our differences will never be more than our similarities. We all breathe air with lungs; have red blood and one heart to love with, one brain to hopefully use it to educate

In the article, the authors bring up the question of why the Matthew Shepard case became a national news story, opposed to other hate crimes that had occirred against the LGBTQ+ community. The authors point out that there were nearly 27 LGBTQ+ related hate crimes which resulted in death, however, none broke into the national news sphere in the manner that the Matthew Shepard case did (Ott & Aoki 489). The authors accredit this circumstance to the fact that Matthew Shepard was able to be ‘normalized’ into the everyday boy next door type of character, white, young, and middle-class. Native Americans are often misrepresented in media outlets such as television shows, movies and even the news. From what we are shown in recent films to what our elementary school teachers taught us growing up, little of what we think we know of Native Americans is true. A lot of what we see and are told is derived from centuries of institutionalized racism and stereotypes. From a young age, we are taught that Native Americans had little influence in American culture besides when they “helped” the “Pilgrims” at Plymouth and the occasional use of them for target practice. But, one of the most common underlying causes that often gets overlooked is misogyny. A deeply ingrained hatred and fear of women has set off some of the most well known, crazed gunmen.…
