Ethiopian Food Research Paper

Improved Essays
For my 20 time project I made Ethiopian food. The reason I chose this is because I have a four year old sister, Piper, who my family adopted from Ethiopia last year, and I wanted to learn more about what it was like there, and also to kind of bring it back for her. Throughout this project, I was hoping to learn more about what it is like there, what they do and how they do it. For my project, I researched a traditional coffee ceremony, I looked up recipes, ingredients, common foods, and special occasion foods. The rest I got from my parents, because they went to get her, and told me what it is was like, and showed me pictures of the things they did.
Well, part of my research was that I went to an Ethiopian restaurant and an Ethiopian grocery store and talked to the owner about how to make the food, and what I would need to make the food. Then, after seeing what the food was like I started my research, and I found what I was going to make, the recipes for them,

There is also lots of different things I could look into about the country like transportation, shelter, and clean water. Another thing I could do is research another country and do some kind of comparison. I also may have an opportunity to share my project as part of the after school program at Plain City.
Besides going to restaurants to actually try the food, one of the most interesting things to me that I learned about was the whole thing about traffic ,and how they don't really Have road signs. Like I said earlier I could research a lot more, but this project will have impacted me a lot because I will continue to make Ethiopian food and go to restaurants.
I believe I deserve an A on this project because I followed through with my plan of doing research, going to the restaurants, finding recipes and then making the food and watching my sister eat the food as my food

I did this to show that Morrie, himself, came up with these aphorisms, and not someone else. Morrie used the aphorisms to teach and get a point across in a way that is easy to understand. The origins of African American food, which is also called soul food right now, can be traced back to Africa. In the 1470s, Portuguese explorers reached the African continent and began developing trade relationships in the central and western regions. Since then, the culture of African started being discovered by those foreigners. In the early 15th century, approximately 12 million men, women, and children were taken off from the African continent during the Trans-Atlantic slave trade. “Foods they were fed during the journey were moved from Africa to the New World in a transfer called the ‘Columbian Exchange’”…

Between 1881 and 1914, the European powers invaded, divided, and occupied the continent of Africa during what is now known as, The Scramble for Africa. In doing so, they disrupted the lives of African people and permanently altered the physical and cultural landscape of Africa. In Basil Davidson’s, “The Magnificent African Cake,” he chronicles the beginning of colonialism in Africa, the impact of European rule on the continent, and the ideologies that justified the exploitation of the African continent and African people. Accordingly, the Europeans justified their exploitation of Africa, her inhabitants and her resources because the Europeans classified African people and their way of life as inferior to the western world.…
