Some people are considered to be greedy since they would only care for themselves. To benefit themselves is to survive as an individual which will results in a lower survival rate. They must overcome their greediness and help others that need help rather than helping themselves. It was recalled that there is a higher chance of surviving if people were to form as a group. To share something that will help someone else survive and adapt to social norms is considered to be the right thing to do. The bigger the group, the more resources are available to adapt to the environment and survive. According to Carnegie, there are 3 modes in which wealth can be disposed of and one being “for public purposes” (489). The wealthy citizens should leave their money to good use and benefit society so that it will have more public services that enables them to survive longer. The ability to benefit from such public services like education and library, people are more obligated to understanding ethics.
