Ethical Climate Power
In order to establish an ethical climate at Paradigm Toys I would use a reward power. There are multiple reasons why this power is the most effective at this time. For starters the buy-in and support for this program is critical and must come from every manager, supervisor, and executive. In order to achieve this a method must be chosen that everyone can apply, and the reward power is the easiest. Also, the reward power is one of the best powers for quick changes.

A good idea would be to implement “green” practices. These could include the way toys are designed and manufactured, only doing business with “green” supplies and distributors and eliminating paper use in the office.
Importance of Ethical Leadership
An ethics audit is an in-depth look at the formal and informal cultural systems in a business to determine if they support ethical behavior. The value that this can bring to a company is ensuring that the cultural systems support ethical behavior. This in turn results in attracting better talent, and retaining that talent, having more loyal customers, a positive work environment, and avoiding legal issues. It has also been shown in many studies that being ethical has an upward relationship with profit.
A balanced scorecard is needed when evaluating executive-level performance for many reasons. One of the key reasons is because without it you will not get a full picture of how the executive is performing. You could look at just their financial performance, but that is just one area and doesn’t even tie into the ethical climate audit that will be performed. Amazon’s Code of Ethics I want to look into Amazon’s Code of Ethics as they are one of the largest IT companies and have a large influence on many people are products. When looking at their Code of Ethics I will focus on three key areas. Those areas will be corporate social responsibility, compliance with legal mandates, and facilitating the development of an ethical culture. Let us first look at corporate social responsibility. When looking at Amazon’s Code of Ethics, nothing jumps out in regards to corporate social responsibility. It seems this topic is completely missed in the Code of Ethics. I do believe Amazon is fairly good at corporate social responsibility, they do not include it in the Code of Ethics and should add at least something. Let us now look at compliance with legal mandates. When looking at Amazon’s Code of Ethics, it’s easy to notice that everything has to do with following the law. Every section mentions compliance with laws, rules and/or regulations. It also states that questions should be directors to the Legal Department. With twelve separate sections that all deal with following laws, rules, and/or regulations I can say that Amazon’s Code of Ethics is very strong in the compliance with legal mandates.
