Ethics Class Reflection

This week I decided to consider the scenario given. In high school I took an ethics class and had to discuss our thoughts behinds scenarios similar to this one. It was always interesting to hear what other people’s responses would be because you got a feel for whom that person is and what their morals are. In that class I discovered a lot about myself, for example, I learned that I am very indecisive. My family has taught me that it is always important to look at both sides of a story equally. When taking this class it was hard for me to pick one side or the other because of that. I’m sharing this with you because I in my response I will probably consider both sides before coming to one conclusion.

This scenario involves killing for a prize. This is hard for me because murder is a tough subject to talk about. My oldest brother was murdered when I was 9 years old, so when the idea of taking someone’s life comes up, I do not feel that is the best solution. …show more content…
Just like in our scenario it would probably be easier and quicker for the boy to steal money to pay for college, but then again, this is taking the lazy way even if it involves effort to steal. I know that when I want something but cannot afford to get it at that moment it can be upsetting. However, when I work extra hard for it and eventually get it, it feels a lot better. An example of this was last Christmas. I had been saving up to get a new laptop all year long, and for Christmas my mother bought me one. Yes it was super nice and exciting that I got the laptop and I was super grateful for it. However, knowing that I could of bought it myself would have been much more rewarding because that’s what I was working towards.
