Ethical Standards
The first area of concern is establishing a solid code of ethics. These are the core values that the Physical Therapy Department will build off to make sure patients are put first and the standard of care is consistent. The Physical Therapy (PT) Department will support the overall ethical code of Riverview Hospital. It will ensure that patient privacy is held to the outmost of importance. The department recognizes that it must continue to review its practices and identify areas where improvements can be made. The department will keep up with the current trends in physical therapy. This can be accomplished by monthly in department training sessions. The monthly in department training sessions will be led by either the Physical Therapy Director or a guest speaker. The director of Physical Therapy will attend training sessions held by the American Physical Therapy Association on a quarterly basis. The hospital will also reimburse all department members for membership in a professional association. The hospital will allow for each employee to attend one professional association meeting per year. The director will also provide a set of standards for employees to self-evaluate themselves against. This will help employee’s identify the areas they are weak in and provide them a chance to continual improve.
