The second theme that will be focused on is ABA principles. Basic ABA principles are those principles that are associated with applied behavioral analysis. These principles are building blocks for ABA programs. One good example of the basic principles are reinforcers and reinforcement, both of these are crucial to ABA. Reinforcement is “the planned presentation of positive reinforcers, or removal of aversive stimuli, as a function of a given response, for the explicit purpose of increasing the future rate of that response under similar circumstances” (Mayer, Sulzer-Azaroff & Wallace, 2014). The Token Economy assignment completed in course SPE 565: Behavior Change System is a great demonstration of reinforcement. This assignment aligned with content area D-01 use positive and negative reinforcement, and D-02 use appropriate parameters and schedules of reinforcement from the BACB task list (BACB, 2012). This assignment focused on the review of literature in regards to token economies which are a form of reinforcement. Once scientific research was reviewed, a behavior change procedure was developed for a 6 year old boy with …show more content…
The Social Skills Intervention project completed in course SPE 566: Applied Behavior Analysis in Inclusive is a great artifact to present for the topic of schedule of reinforcement. This project involved a continuous schedule of reinforcement, for the behavior of signing the word “more”. Each time the student signed the word “more” he was reinforced with the item requested for 30 seconds. A reinforcement schedule determines when a behavior will be reinforced. There are two types of reinforcement schedules; they are continuous and intermittent reinforcement schedules (Mayer, Sulzer-Azaroff & Wallace, 2014). This topic aligns with content area K-04: design and use effective performance monitoring and reinforcement systems (BACB,
