After carefully considering the situation at hand and all possible solutions, I have come to the decision to increase capacity at our offshore plant and at the same time alter our audit policy from one announced audit per year to one unannounced audit per year, since this is the best compromise between increasing our profitability and shareholder value on the one hand and ensuring ethical treatment of our employees worldwide on the other hand. The ethical implications of this decision are that potential labor law violations in our offshore plant will be discovered and stopped as soon as possible and discouraged permanently, while simultaneously our company fulfills its promise to all shareholders to continually increase profit. It is highly probale, though, that our company credibility will suffer (Zeiger, 2015). We might refer to a real-life example, in order to predict aftereffects. The company Apple was revealed to produce their products under unethical working conditions in several of their offshore suppliers a few years ago (Moore, 2012). As a result Apple was negatively portrayed in the media and protests against the company were organized. Until today Apple is still often connected with unethical behavior. Even if previous labor law violations conducted by our offshore supplier have not affected our operations hitherto, we are prepared that sooner or later they will. Society is getting increasingly aware of social exploitation of workers and it can be expected that in the near future these practices will impact sales
