He explained to the chemist that his wife was dying and asked if he could have the drug cheaper or pay the rest of the money later. The chemist refused saying that he had discovered the drug and was going to make money from it. Heinz was desperate to save his wife, so later that night he broke into the chemist’s and stole the drug.
Please answer the following questions (give a reason for each answer and also demonstrate an understanding of the complex response for each question)
3. Should Heinz have stolen the drug? Why?
Heinz’s reasons behind stealing the drugs were motivated by the good as he wanted to save his wife from dying. He was merely doing what he thought was right, assuming that the chemist would be ok without the money from the sale of the drug but Heinz’s wife would die without this drug it provides another reason as to why stealing the drug was ok. Money should not be more valued then someone’s life.
People may disagree with this, as by doing this it could provide an excuse for other people to validate stealing if it is for a ‘good cause’ despite it being wrong ad illegal.
