The argument of Kantianism is that people should do what can be adopted universally. Lying is wrong but there are situations in which lying is permissible especially when it comes to specific circumstances. The rule can be implemented without the potential of contradiction. Situations of lying are rare meaning most of the times people are telling the truth. What about self defense? When situation exists in which the solution is killing rather than being killed is permissible. However, what are the benefits of the framework? All these are problematic when reviewing and embracing Kant’s theory. Nevertheless, Kantianism is appropriate in furthering day to day obligations and duties. Kantianism presents aspects that should be done, the good actions, but the same theory does not provide solutions to particular instances. The universability theory may also be used to champion anything meaning that Kant perspective is divided between teleological and deontological. It can be argued the basic component is deontological but evidence of teleological exists. Furthermore, very few people act purely out of duty meaning that a return is important towards any engagement of humans. Kantianism also presents the aspect of God who should rationalize and order the world such as the duty to assist others. Kantianism cannot address issues around double effect or even when it comes to solving individual cases because it focuses on the treatment of others. It is also important to understand that people are usually different meaning their subjectivity may influence the decision making. Focusing on duty alone means that it is the wrong premise to start from. Furthermore, not all the people are rational and able to make moral decisions in the right way.
