There are six main Ethical Principles of the Code of Ethics and when I read all six I am constantly checking my own beliefs to see if there are any beliefs or values that I have that do not necessarily line up. It is the key to shaping beliefs. If I was to not learn about people and to keep holding on to this belief that you can lose dignity by doing something wrong then I would not make a good Social Worker. As I move closer to becoming a Social Worker I am shaping this belief about those who harm others so that it does not affect or make me loose integrity or competence. This is highly important. If I am to go into the CPS field and I continue to hold this belief the parents, of the children on my case, will not have a fair chance of working a case plan. Or if I continue hold this belief and work in the mental health field my clients would never move towards a healthier life because I believe that if they committed wrong they do not deserve to move past
