Whenever I tell someone that I am minoring in Social Work the most common response is “it takes a special person”, which is very true. As a social worker, you are treating each person with care and respect, and keeping in mind the different cultures and issues that brought them to you. My grandfather is probably my number one; he passed away in November 2013 and he taught me basically everything (besides my parents of course). He was my best friend and if I was not home or at school I would be right by his side, so it was inevitable that I would learn something from him. My core values that I have learned I would have to say are being compassionate; acting with love and the best interests of the people involved. That could go along with service; you are making sure that you are taking care of those that are in need. Another ethic or value of mine would be personal growth or continuous learning, I have coped with the fact that there will always be something out there that you need to learn or subjects that you cannot learn. This goes with competence, you need to realize there is a limit where your brain has enough information, but someone else will have that information so you can team
