Here I have identified three situations that I feel that needs to be addressed concerning some questionable practices by Joe Smith. My first concerning is that The CEO of Peninsula Hotel gave Joe Smith a case of some very expensive wine he happens to mention that his wife likes. Or how Joe was invited to go sailing with Bill and how he would hold business meeting at the Peninsula Hotel. My team and I found this behavior to be alarming and not sure at this point if they border on unethical work practice. Because of these issues the need for code of conduct needed to be in place to protect this organization and its stakeholders from matters that could be deemed unethical.
What is the policy that you will establish to help prevent each situation from happening in the future? The Conflict of Interest policy will be established and enforced by the Ethic/Compliance office of the organization. According to US Business law/taxes a conflict of interest is where the individual of an organization will have competing importance or allegiance. Although outwardly it doesn’t appear like there could be a conflict of interest, but from the stand point of just meeting with Joe and listening to him speak about Bill. As the CEO and upper management you must back your code policy this is done by providing satisfactory means and specialist to the compliance offer to investigate the concerns and to ensure they are done fairly and promptly while monitoring the performance of the investigative process (Volkov Law Group, 2014).
