Ethical Issues In Counseling Relationship

D-The patient arrived on time for her counseling session. Reported stable on her dose and denied the need for a dose increase when offered by this writer. The patient immediately admitted that she used a dime of crack cocaine on 07/28/2016 due to stresses in her life, referring to her estranged mother, of whom the patient currently resides with. Alternatives and feedback was addressed as the patient cannot use her stress factors as an excuse to use illicit drugs. This writer discussed about facing the problem and developing appropriate communication skills with her mother. Then the patient reported, she is planning to move out of her mother's house, not soon but eventually. The conversation shifted as the patient reported, her father now has a blood clot in his leg and brain. He was sent to St. Francis Hospital again and given medication. This writer provided active listening skills and validated the patient's feelings.

Take Home Bottles;
The patient again expressed the desire of wanting to apply for take home bottles. She reported, she had 6 before and "messed up" due to another relapse. The patient says, " I am going to redeem myself, you will see (with a laughter)." …show more content…
There was no evidence of SI/HI. The patient recent UDS result shows positive for heroin and cocaine. The patient denies using heroin, only cocaine.
