Adolescent dating violence is becoming more and more common in our society, unfortunately. “The early to mid-teenage years mark a time in which romantic relationships begin to emerge.(first source)” Developmentally, relationships at this age can serve as a very positive influence; moreover, for some, dating only forces them into a dark place. It begins with what the adolescent may consider to be “dating.” Dating has changed dramatically over the years. As an adolescent experiencing dating violence: whether it be emotionally, physically or sexually, it has to be a scary experience. Very few reach out for help in spite of fear. It comes down to every individual in our society deserves justice. Non-maleficence means “to do no harm.” BOOK! This relates to this topic as everyone should be able to have a safe and healthy relationship. It is not “normal” to have to worry about safety, make excuses for a partner, or feel scared that things will never get better. These may include, but are not limited to: “Expecting the partner to check in frequently, blame everything in the relationship on one partner, acting possessive or jealous, physically hitting, name-calling, getting mad over seemingly little things.”TEEN DATING VIOLENCE SOURCE Dependent on your friendship with an individual, it typically is not the best approach to accuse them of being a victim of dating violence. However, if suspected, it is important to let them know they have support groups behind them as well as offer the idea of taking these questions into consideration: “Do you make excuses for your partners? Do you spend time with your partner more than your friends and family to make them happy?
