A Ethical Egoist on Abortion
One of the most debated upon topics in ethics is abortion. People feel one way or another about abortion, either they are pro-life or pro-choice. This makes the debate a little bit heated. The two choices are very difficult to choose from, but the ethical implications on abortion makes it that much more difficult. There are two ways the most people look at the topic; either they believe that it is not morally right to kill an innocent child, pro-life option, or they believe that it is the woman’s body and she can do as she pleases with the child, pro-choice option. In this essay, I will assess both options from an ethical egoist stand point.

As an ethical egoist, the woman would have an abortion because the child would mess up something that she has always wanted to do. College is the woman’s only chance of having a successful life, unless she marries rich, so she would choose college over the child because she wants what was best for her.
Before having an abortion, the woman must as herself; Can I live with this decision the rest of my life? Can I mentally and physically able take care of a child on my own? Am I read to put my own goals to the side to take care of this child? The woman from an ethical egoist stand point would not put her own goals to the side to take care of the child because it would “ruin her life”.

Ethical egoism gives us the ability to put our own self-interest firsts, to be “selfish”, and to have an alternate option to a choice. Abortion is a very touchy subject and could be debated on for countless amounts of time and probably will. A viewpoint like ethical egoism could be either choice. It just matters what the woman chooses to do with her child life or her own. It is the woman’s choice to whatever she thinks is in her best
