Let us start this essay by defining what manipulation is. Manipulation is a result of utilizing any means necessary to get what one desires. That means can be the use of tricks, persuasion, motivation, abuse, or any tactics which influences another individual to do something. I strongly believe that in today’s world, when one party manipulates an individual, money is the main factor in one way or the other. In this essay I will be discussing two different scenarios where a specific individual or a group of individuals are manipulated by one party. The first scenario will be of how some salesmen manipulate elderly

The second scenario will be of an Indian spiritual guru who manipulates vulnerable devotees and charges them money for a blessing. I will approach both these scenarios from an ethical standpoint and also by using one or more dimensions of the moral basis to support the manipulation in both of the scenarios. I will not be agreeing on the evolutionary basis of why such a moral basis exists. The structure of my essay will be simple, following this introduction I will have a paragraph which defines the dimensions of a moral basis and also what a utility is. After that, I will have 3 paragraphs for each scenarios, the first describing the manipulation/situation, the second will be a discussion on ethics, and the last will be a discussion …show more content…
This is because when you are 90 years old you do not know better, you do not want to go through the hassle and research about the products. The elderly have their own finance, and health to worry about. Thus they do not need to create more hassle, and thus as a result end up overpaying for services and useless products. An alternate utility that would cause the individual to take steps to avoid manipulation would be asking their children for help.
