My ethical decision process has become more refined and is forever present as I care for patients. Before entering the nursing program, I had not truly understood how nurses manage the rights of patients through an ethical standpoint. For example, I was assigned a patient that was receiving internal radiation therapy daily to treat stomach cancer. From the wellness and illness II lectures, I knew that one of the nursing priorities is to use precautions to keep the risks of radiation exposure to a minimum which is done by wearing radiation-reducing gloves. I did not see any specialized gloves near the patient room, so I asked the patient’s nurse as well as the patient’s PCT about the location of the gloves. The PCT had no idea what I was talking
