Foucault describes the significance of an author's name. He illustrates the use of an author's name on the feelings produced by the reader. Foucault determined that the author's name can be used to develop their own character or produce a false backstory for themselves to create an emotion in the reader to create incentive for them to pursue the book or work of the author.
