The lack of complete knowledge of all that is involved in genetic research should be considered when using statistics like this. (Judson & Harrison, 2015. Pg. 304). The idea of using stem cells doesn’t seem to be the issue, it is how they obtain them is what causes debate. Most likely anytime that a human embryo is concerned, many ethical concerns should be addressed. Religion plays a big part in ethical concerns of genetic engineering, because people who believe in a God that creates all things may also believe man shouldn’t try to play God. (debate.org, n.d.). For someone who does not believe in such things, this would not be an issue to them. On the other hand, someone who has a strong belief system of a higher power could possibly have many concerns with research such as cloning.
