Why Is Pokemon Go Too Dangerous

Everyone knows the latest hype of the world. The game craze that is taking the world by storm, is none other than Pokemon Go. Walking along the streets, one can safely say that more than 50% of the people that pass by have their eyes glued to their phone screen, and obviously on Pokemon Go. People spend many hours in the sweltering heat of Singapore, catching the virtual pokemons. People are oblivious to their surroundings and the only thing that runs through them is the exciting thrill that comes with the chase. The success of Pokemon Go is another example of how technological advances outstrip society’s capacity to adequately address the ethical, moral and legal consequences of their implementation.

Many parents are worried about the effects of this augmented reality game. Families are concerned about their children and loved ones especially when Pokemon Go players go around everywhere and anywhere just for sake of catching virtual creatures. Security of the players are at risk due to the flaws posed by the app. Cases of robbers exploiting the game mechanics to lure victims have been reported. I suggest that policy makers address the concerns of the game and that Pokemon Go is a augmented reality game. Players should understand the fact that this game is merely for entertainment and not a life long commitment. If not, I suggest that this game be demolished as a whole. The world would obviously be upset but to maintain the sanity of this world, I hope that the absence of this game would be the best for everyone.
