Compliance belongs to all of us from the janitor to the physician. We all must do our own jobs to their standard of conduct. While many of us are very ethical and honest people there is always the possibility that some may feel the need to work up to the higher standard. It maybe because they had worked in an office that let things slide or perhaps their upbringing wasn't the greatest in the ethics department. But now that they are in healthcare

As a manager to ensure staff members are serious about compliance I would show by example how I feel about being compliant in my chosen profession. Sometimes it would be easier to do it the short way but in doing so the integrity with which I do my job would be in question and I never want that questioned by myself ot others. Monthly staff meetings with an emphasis on compliance would be held for ALL staff. From month to month the type of compliance would change but the message would always be compliance must be observed. Another method would be to have spot checks on how staff is handling any difficult situations and talk about them and how to resolve any issues in the office. You must carefully follow all state, federal, and individual practice rules and laws while performing your daily duties. All staff must remember that they are their own compliance officer and the entire office
