During this rating period, Zhenya Gezalyan continued her assignment as a GAIN Services Worker (GSW) in the Homeless Case Management Program Unit at the Southwest Family CalWORKs district. She performed the duties of a Homeless Case Manager (HCM) under the supervision of the rater, Terry McKinney. The poem and the story develop the same themes but they come across to a person in different ways. In the story a hobo gets help from a man but later doesn't appreciate it. The story starts off when a man comes along to a hobo who hasn't slept for two days and hasn't eaten for three days. The man offers to take him out to pick and find him a place to sleep. As a Homeless Shelter Representative Trainee for Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, I’m obligated to inspect Certified Adult Shelters. It is my ethical responsibility to evaluation client’s case records, incident reports, resident’s savings ledgers and resident’s complaints at the shelters. I constrain to the compliance under OTDA 491 Regulations. Some inspections consist of revising the administration and financial records and reports of the facility. Homelessness is a very serious issue not only in our area, but all over the United States. According to statistics, there are approximately 578,424 individuals that are experiencing homelessness(National Alliance to End Homelessness). “The Seattle/King County Coalition on Homelessness, located in Seattle, Washington, formed in 1979, when local shelter providers, city staff, advocates, and others who witnessed homelessness came together in an attempt to serve people better and draw attention and resources to a growing crisis” (King County, 2015). The King County’s mission is to work collaboratively with other organizations to ensure safety and survival for people while they are homeless, and to end the crisis of homelessness within the city of Seattle. Organizations that combine efforts with other like organizations will not only more than likely attain their goal(s), but also create strong long-term, collaborative relationships in the future (Capella, 2011). There are multiple reasons why there is an increase (1)of homeless people in the city of Houston . Poverty , substance abuse , someone running away from home , etc . I will apply cognitive dissonance , social comparison and self-concept to focus on the external attributions ; instead of internal and figure out a possible explanation to this phenomenon . When we feel a dissonance towards our decisions , we tend to grow anxiety and a feeling that something is not right .
