In regard to being a Resident Assistant, it is more important to be well-respected. I think it's okay to be liked by the residents, but I don't think it should be to the point where they think they can take advantage of you and break rules. Just because someone is liked doesn't mean that they shouldn't be respected as well. Unfortunately, that is not always the case. Most off the time, when someone is well-liked, it is because they are nice and easy to talk to. When you are a RA, that can be translated into the residents being able to do whatever they want. When you are a RA, there needs to be a good balance. You should be able to be liked while still showing that you are serious about your position and will lay down the law when it is
