The different ethical and social issues arising from product development and product safety are the obligations companies have to develop products that are safe for public use, reasonably serves the purpose as advertised, has appropriate and effective warnings, as well as offering a product that will not unjustifiably pose a danger to the buyer. The ethical and social responsibility of the company relate to the safety concerns of the product to be sold, not creating unsafe products and what to do when there are problems with the product after being sold (Jennings, 2015, pg. 503).

The different ethical and social issues arising from product advertising relate to the truthfulness of the product description, potential harm it could cause and impressionability on unintended targets. Advertising can be seen as a grey area, however they should stay within the bounds of the law in terms of false and inflated advertising. Yes, certain types of advertising should be more regulated such as products potentially dangerous and impressionable to children, alcohol, cigarettes, products that are harmful or have side effects and, any product that is health related.
