Ethical Analysis of Poverty: Education is Key
Poverty has plagued the United States for decades. People everywhere are living in poverty and this is a social problem that should be a concern of everyone. The question that comes into play is what is the real cause of poverty. Property is such a wide range issues that it is hard to develop a cure-all; however, lack of education in the United States is a generational curse that continues to triple down and deplete this country of its resources. Hickman states, "The root cause of poverty is lack of education. If you can 't read or do basic math, if you can 't show up to work and apply yourself, you will not have a job. You will be poor" (Hickman, 2015). Therefore, it is my belief that more education is a key component to addressing poverty.
Recently, there has been a great number of individuals looking for new job opportunities due to the closing of coal mines in United States. Most of these individuals that lost their jobs were generational coal miners that received the opportunity because that is what their fathers did before them. A majority of the coal miner 's began their career to aid their families with financial needs. The coal miner 's went directly from school to working underground making a decent living until that was no longer an option. The missed opportunity for higher education was evident in the unemployment line. The individuals that thought they were set for life are now facing poverty due…
