For most of the checklist, I have seen that my answers were closely related to the answers given to me on the responses. This shows that the view I have of myself is congruent with reality. This can be credited to the unconditional positive regard given to me by my parents, which allowed me to get a good view of myself while not having them bring me down for my flaws. Additionally, two responses, by family member and other, mentioned that they saw me having kids. This also goes along with what I said in my checklist. Another similarity seen was that two people said that say me living in Florida in 15 years, but I did not say this in my response. Some differences were that my family member response mentioned me having five kids, but in my response I said no more than three. I believe that everyone, for the most part, responded as I expected, which was basically the same way that I rated myself for the checklist. The most surprising response for me was from the acquaintance for the accepting of others adjective. I said fairly often, and the other responses said very often, but my acquaintance response said that …show more content…
When I am around someone who I know is judging me, or maybe doesn’t want to be around me, I will act very mild, or in the way that I know they would like me to behave. This is because most of my friends who I am not so close with and some adults mainly offer conditional positive regard, meaning they only value me when I behave in the way that they want me to. Though when I am around my family and close friends, who I feel value me no matter what, I will act more freely, and not feel the need to worry about them judging me. Thankfully, I am more often around people who I feel value me unconditionally, which allows me to be fully functioning in the world and utilize the skills that I have to become better, which I might not be able to do if I was only around people who I felt judged

Growing up in one of the poorest regions of the United States has taught me two things; one, we are not defined by stereotypes, and two, hardships are made to be overcome. Nestled in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, Middlesboro, KY sits on the Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia border. The multicolored fall foliage and the vivid green mountains in the spring are disserved by the descriptor spectacular. My roots are firmly nestled in the Cumberland Gap where Daniel Boone started his journey to the West decades ago. I am proud to call myself an Appalachian-American.…
