Rahel
Rahel is one of the main protagonists of the story. It was quite easier to understand Rahel because in the novel, we see the world through her eyes. Estha and Rahel’s younger personalities were complimentary like peanut butter and jelly. Estha was more practical and serious while
Rahel can’t sit still most of the time, she has an active imagination. She seems to exist in a version of reality that is only hers. Her imagination is different from Estha. She has a more childlike imagination with so much fascination while Estha had like a worst-case-scenario thinking. When she feels scared, she would feel Pappachi’s moth crawling on her heart. “A cold moth with unusually dense dorsal tuffs landed lightly on Rahel’s heart. Where its icy legs touched her,

Margaret Kochamma blames Estha for Sophie Mol’s death, she slaps him multiple times. Baby Kochamma manipulates Estha into blaming Velutha to save Ammu from going to prison. The twins had to be separated, Estha was returned to his father who he never saw or lived with. The trauma caused by so much bad experiences had shut Estha from speaking suddenly. “Childhood tiptoed out.
Silence slid in like a bolt.” (150) His childhood was scarring and traumatizing. After re-returning to Ayemenem, it brings back the memories of the past. Still Estha could not speak. Estha and
Rahel end up exploring memories of their childhood. Something that was kept at the back of
Estha’s mind. He notices that Rahel has looked much like Ammu already. They grieved and made up for all they have lost.
To play the character of a young Estha, I chose Karan Brar. He is a Disney channel star. He is a bit older now, but his younger self would be perfect for Estha. That innocent and childish, boyish look with an Elvis Presley get-up. As for the adult Estha, I stumbled on an American based,
Indian descent actor, Manish Dayal. In the novel, I imagine Estha to be handsome, with

Edward Said once wrote “Exile is strangely compelling to think about but terrible to experience. It is the unhealable rift between a human being and a native place, between the self and it’s true home: its essential sadness cannot be surmounted,” however Said also stated exile can be “a potent, even enriching” experience. The Poisonwood Bible, a novel written by author, Barbara Kingsolver, features a young girl, Leah Price, who experiences exile in both of these manners and is completely changed by her experience while living in the Congo as a missionary’s daughters. Leah Price is exiled from her father, her homeland, and her entire belief system, all of which she believed defined her as a young woman. “I soon forgot about him. I began to think of myself again” (Wiesel, 86). This quote is the epitome of the topic of survival, and more importantly, self-preservation in Night. Elie Wiesel uses characters such as Eliezer Wiesel and Rabbi Eliahou to show just how important it was to keep yourself alive during the Holocaust. There were even instances where Jews would kill their own friends and family just for food.…

Chiwetel Ejiofor (Solomon Northup) this character is a real live person, it’s his story of what he saw and did. Steve McQueen needs to use this character because it was based off in Solomon’s plot and real live events he had been through and experienced. It’s like giving a voice to one’s story who was a survivor in slavery and his actions towards it. Solomon is very strong spirited, a believer, and a strong person to go through 12 years of slavery. McQueen used Chiwetel Ejiofor as Solomon because he knows that this actor would perform very well for this film.…

At first, I had very mixed feelings about “The White Hotel”. The first two sections were extremely sexual, to the extent that I had to take multiple breaks from it. It was definitely something I wasn’t expecting from such a well-known book, especially from one that was supposed to be about one of the most horrific events in history. It all started to come together in the third segment where we learn more about Frau Anna G.’s background, and why she wrote the two pieces in the first place.…

Sarah Hyland would be perfect for the role of Li 'l Bit because she can obtain the physical appearance this character requires. Hyland has the ability to portray a young, adolescent girl and an adult, mature woman by simply altering hairstyles, clothes, and through the use of makeup. For example, she is suppose to represent a juvenile 13 year old girl during a photoshoot with her uncle. The title, Sana Maabot ang Langit, in Velutha’s point of view, the Langit represents Ammu who is in the higher position in the caste system and Velutha, an untouchable can never reach her. Based on the novel, this is a book that is a letter to the powerless, whether it is women who are not allowed to follow the direction of their heart or men who suffered because they are from the wrong caste. Therefore the designed poster is a form of triangle that represents the caste system in India, and Ammu is at the top while Velutha is at the bottom. The faded images at the sides are the themes: family and social obligation, social hierarchy, love and sexuality, change vs. preservation, and small things; and the symbolism like the History House, this…
