This session was near and dear to my heart because in my workplace email and IM is used every day. I learned that proofreading my messages can be done is many different ways. I appreciate table 5.3 in part 2, chapter 5 as it teaches how to weed out obsolete phrases that are dated, such as “attached please find” and “please be advised that”, in the text it states to just say what I need to say. I am one that uses these dated phrases on a daily basis, in emails, and reports. I am now looking at phrasing my messages differently. I tend to go with the “stuffy tone” stated in table 5.2 “finding the right tone” Business Communication Today, (13th ed), subsequently I now rephrase my messages. I never thought of using this type of tone in my messages as “stuffy” but as professional. I am thankful for this
