It’s because racial bias from law enforcement and it is targeted at Black Americans. The rise of police brutality is only making American citizens grow not only a hatred, but a fear for the people who are supposed to be protecting everyone. And it’s funny because if you put ‘’C’’ in front of the word ‘’OP’’ you figure just out, who’s your biggest threat. It’s common for people to have cell phones, which mean more proof is found that police brutality is only becoming a bigger problem. It is found that police officers shoot and kill blacks twice as much as any other race. It’s also found that blacks are 4 times more likely to die in custody or when arrested than whites. In order to fix this problem and get justice to the families who lost loved ones due to police brutality, officers should wear body cameras turned on at all times.
Recent polls have showed that 9 out of 10 Americans want police officers to wear body cameras. The Cleveland police department did an experiment with using body cameras and they received 59% fewer complaints from citizens and there were 87.5% fewer incidents. Today, police officers use deadly, excessive force that leads to inexcusable assaults, beatings and shootings. These violations are seen nationwide to the minority community and are committed by various police officers that fail to receive punishment for their action which caused the forming of riots and starting of campaigns just like the Black Panthers back in 1996.
