“We may have the right to bear arms, but people have to have major responsibility when it comes down to it”(Kelly). The second amendment doesn 't mean people have an unlimited right to own guns. Meaning we can not just go out and do whatever we want with a gun there are some ground rules. “Gun control laws are as old or older than the second amendment”(Gun Control). A good example for why we need gun control is a story about a mom and her son that lived in Hendersonville, North Carolina. On November 10, 2015 a woman and her 1 year old son were home while her husband was at the gym. While her husband was gone a burglar entered the house and shot the woman and killed her, luckily her son was not harmed. None of this would have ever happened if the United States government enforced gun control on United States citizens. The burglar would have been less likely to have had that gun and been able to kill her. We should also enforce background checks a lot more than we actually do. Not surprisingly, eighty percent of criminals reported obtaining their weapons through private sales with no background checks”(Kelly). Many American citizens would feel safer if gun control was enforced in the United States because it would be harder to have and buy guns. On the other hand, many other American citizens would not feel safer because many United States citizens like to protect their self and not rely on someone else to protect them, especially when the person protecting them could not be there all the time and with you all times of the day. Therefore the United States Government should not enforce gun control on United States
