This statement is no different when it comes to police brutality. The media often portrays law enforcement officers as cruel and racist people by only reporting the events in which an officer treats a suspect with cruel and unusual punishment. With this being said, the media has been promoting the “hate campaign” against police officers since as early as 2009 (Morelli 1). Not only does the press only write over certain events, but they also tend to over dramatize these events. It is also shown that, more times than not, a journalist will only interview people with the same opinions as them. Major journalists also tend to not interview any type of personnel in the law enforcement. This is considered a problem because these major media sources play a significant role in how citizens form their opinions over
