“Private preparation makes for perfect public performance”, one of the many phrases taught to me as a child. The message was quite clear: preparation always equals success. As I prepare for the next stage of my academic career, cemented in my subconscious are multiple phrases that represent a set of principles- principles I apply to all matters.
With an overwhelming source of educational platforms and various options of secondary schools to choose from, I questioned "Who can I trust?" After much research the answer revealed itself- numbers don’t lie. I intend to be a part of the 70 percent of student graduates that gain acceptance into medical school. As author John Maxwell states, “To lead tomorrow, learn today”. I am intrigued by the doctoral faculty, leadership seminars, and graduation rate, which I am certain they all will enhance my competitiveness as an applicant for medical school. Though the visible accolades are impressive, its not just about facts or statistics, more important is the alignment of ideology. …show more content…
But experience revealed limitless benefits with a balanced approach to health, for that reason I embrace the principles of osteopathic medicine. This program is a reflection of the commitment to complete care for the mind, body, and spirit of an individual. In addition, throughout my work experience I’ve witnessed the lack of awareness regarding health within the community. I credit volunteering at a nursing home for the enlightenment and helping me to become attentive to the needs of others. It is easy to sympathize at a distance, albeit I value compassion that evokes act of service. Within this program there is attention to grassroots services and encouraging research within low socioeconomic areas, the same visions I will bring to fruition as a
