Dear Ventura College Board of Directors, I am honored to be a recipient of the Edith H. French Scholarship. This scholarship presents me with an invaluable opportunity for me to pursue my educational goals, without having to worry about the expenses that college students are required to pay. Providing for my five year old daughter while also going to school full time has placed a strain on my finances, so the opportunity to receive this scholarship will help me immensely. This award has vindicated my decision to complete my college education rather than going into full time employment. After all of the hard work and sacrifice I have put into my education, it feels amazing to be rewarded in such a remarkable fashion. Upon graduation

I am sorry to inform you that I disagree with your hasty actions to trust the letter that you found to presumably be from Olivia because its means of delivery and significant details composed within the letter signal several red flags to the common observer. While you were fantasizing about a possible love interest in Olivia, which several others also shared, your ego simply overtook your thoughts and you connected several indications within the letter rather illogically. Of course people thought that you were mad! Your childish actions cost you your dignity and the slim margin of respect that Olivia previously had for you.…

In some societies women have been confined to the four walls of their homes, and in others women have stood as the heads of government. The role of women in the French Revolution is a complicated one, and it may seem as though these females carried out a multitude of functions. Indeed, women during this era engaged in a diverse array of activities and movements, ranging from dressing in patriotic garb, to writing political documents, to stabbing their enemies to death. However, all of the individual actions taken by these women point toward one primary goal: to use whatever means possible to contribute their ideas to the Revolution.…
