It is ridiculous to believe that every individual who has been arrested, is guilty. There are those, however who believe that simply being arrested implies guilt. If they were innocent, they would not have been arrested right? We should not be so quick to put such a harsh title on any individual's head before it is actually proven. All individuals should be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Simply put, any individual can cross paths with false accusations, insufficient evidence or even corruption. These could all potentially ruin an innocent person's life.

Without convincing evidence there is no way of knowing if the accused is guilty or innocent. For the most part, this happens when the accused is in fact, not guilty and should lead to a mistrial and thrown out. However, it has happened and continues to happen that an individual is detained or even arrested simply because, they fit a profile description (CBC News, Alton Logan’s Conviction). An arrest leads to a trial and a trail leads to sentencing. Sentencing is determined by the judge, however determining if an individual is guilty or innocent, is decided by the jury. The jury is made up of twelve random, computer selected individuals just like you and me. These individuals could be bias, and have their mind made up in a heartbeat.
