There are numerous reasons why the legalization of marijuana should be considered. I personally do not smoke weed; however, there are many industrial and commercial uses for cannabis—such as manufacturing paper, rope, medicine, dynamite, and much more. If people were to start using cannabis to produce paper, think of how many trees would be protected. As for medical use, lots of people believe that marijuana can help with depression. Others believe that pot helps people who have developed cancer. If weed were to be legalized, the FDA could keep tabs on the quality and safety of the drugs. With the legalization of marijuana, most pot dealers would be put out of business, which may cause a decrease in violent crimes.

People can become addicted to the feeling that marijuana brings them. There’s the chance of second hand smoke damage becoming more prominent. Things such as stoned driving may increase, however, the effects that marijuana cause on the brain aren’t all that different from the effects of alcohol. While marijuana, in moderation, can cause impaired judgment, alcohol can effect motor skills, judgment, memory, and may cause aggression. People can also overdose on alcohol, and potentially die.
