Skills needed to achieve this goal will be reading, writing, communication and comprehending. I know that I will need to spend considerable time doing research and reading materials. In my current position, I work with a lot of databases and forms. I just recently began writing procedures for a human resource procedure manual which will improve my writing skills. Most of the letters used in our department are standard form letters so I do not spend much time creating and drafting letters. I believe writing is a weakness of mine and I know that obtaining this degree will improve this important skill. Communication is imperative for clear understanding. “Communication is the sister of leadership” (John Adair). Time management will be another factor since I work a full time job. I went to school five years ago and learned then that I was self-disciplined and enjoyed the on-line work much more than classroom. I felt the classroom time was more for overviews and that I could accomplish more on my own

My Motivation: What motivates me the most to pursue a college degree is that I will be the first person in my family to receive one. My grandmother is the backbone behind this motivation because she was always making sure that academics came first in my life. There was rarely a day that I would come home and she would not ask me questions about my homework, asking what I learned in school, or even looked over my homework. As I got older, she made sure I was a part of a college prep program called AVID from 6th-12th grade and that definitely made a difference for me. It helped me understand the importance of continuing your education and how beneficial it can be to succeeding in life.…
