Essay On Why I Chose Cosmetology

As my senior year recently came closer to an end, it became more clear that I was more unsure than ever as to what I wanted to do in life. School was not something I enjoyed and the thought of furthering my education taking random classes without knowing what I wanted to do seemed depressing. I decided I would enroll in the community college near my home in Alabama and get started on some basic classes. About a month after graduating, I was talking to my mom and she asked me what I wanted to do for a career. Still depressed and feeling anxious about the subject, I told her I really just wanted to go to cosmetology school. My parents both have college degrees, so I never anticipated they would take me serious, much less seriously consider me doing this. Amazingly, my parents were both extremely supportive. I know I will have to work hard. In high school, schoolwork did not come easy, I had to study hard. I had to put more effort into courses than some of my friends. Although I didn’t enjoy school, with hard work I was very proud to graduate with honors and a member of the Senior Beta Club. I know I will have to put the same effort into cosmetology school, but I am actually looking forward to school. I am confident I will succeed because I have the determination necessary to reach my goals. I am looking forward to working in a salon as a cosmetologist, and maybe even owning my own salon one day. I look forward to helping others feel confident and beautiful. My dream is to be a stylist on a movie set. I think that would be amazing and fun, but wherever life takes me in this career, I know that I will excel because I understand what it takes to work hard and most of all, will love doing
