The chances of making it to the NFL are very slim, almost zero percent. Also football can cause head injuries that can last a lifetime. Lastly, NFL players have a hard time adjusting to the regular life after they retire. These are reasons why football is a very dangerous sport and why children and parents should be aware of the risks. A poll of “763 post NFL players was taken and 42 percent said that injuries from playing in the NFL has been the hardest part of their post NFL lives”(Baumbach). That is over three hundred people that have a hard time with life now because they played football. Also “41 percent said that career direction was the hardest part of their post NFL career”(Baumbach). “50.6 percent had financial problems after the NFL”(Baumbach). Baseball shows that everyone needs to play together in order to win the game. It also teaches communication because in the outfield you need to call for ball in order to stay safe. Another way to teach teamwork and communication is volleyball. “each team member must know the topic and quickly react so that the ball doesn 't fall in their court”(Lumpkin). Volleyball players are expected to work together to keep the ball from falling in their court. To do that they will need to communicate with each other to see who is going to hit the ball next. Basketball is also another way to teach communication and teamwork. “the star players are the team leaders, but the other members are the support players that provide materials and assist the stars”(Lumpkin). One player can not win basketball games. It takes a whole team, and they all have to communicate with each other so they know what play they are running on offense and who everyone has to defend on defense.
